After Your Procedure

The Pain Relief Surgicenter

RECOVERY: In most cases, you will recover for 15-30 minutes before going home with a driver. Your doctor or our staff will discuss any activity restrictions with you prior to discharge. Plan to spend a quiet day and evening after the procedure. Most people can return to work the next day.

Do not try things that you have been unable to do before because of your pain. No hot showers or tub baths until the following morning.

PAIN RELIEF: You may notice some decrease in your pain for the first couple of hours after an injection; this is due to the local anesthetic you received.

When the anesthetic wears off, your pain will return until the injection medication or treatment takes effect. You may begin to experience pain relief within 3 - 5 days. Depending on the treatment, you may require more than one injection for long-term pain relief.

If you experience any pain at the injection site, you can apply an ice pack to the area.

FOLLOW UP: In most cases, your doctor will request you to schedule a follow-up visit within a week of the procedure. During the follow-up appointment, you and your doctor will discuss the procedure, your degree of pain relief, and the need for any additional treatment(s).

Our staff is knowledgeable about many diagnostic tests and pain treatments, and they will be happy to help you. If you have concerns about your procedure, call The Pain Relief SurgiCenter in Austin, TX at (512) 836-1200.
